The process is not always as glamorous as the outcome. The nice clean pretty pictures can create the illusion of quick and easy work. I’m not young anymore and I like to take my time. When I painted this piece the temperatures were as low as 35 degrees in my studio. My knuckles were bleeding from the cold, breathing is restricted from the respirator filtering out the intense fumes, headaches are common even with ventilation, exhaustion from the cold, covered in overspray from head to toe and each day I drive home smelling like I was dipped in a vat of noxious aerosol fumes. These are just the basics but it’s not always like this, sometimes its outdoors in 105 degree heat.
