A commissioned “Tennis Themed Mural” for the city of Henderson Nevada,  Summer of 2024.

All the cactuses, desert plants, birds, stars and the sun are made up of elements from Tennis Rackets and Tennis Balls. In addition there are seven tennis balls hidden in plain sight for you to find and if you can discover which direction this mural is facing (East or West), only then will you will know if it is a Sunrise or Sunset.

Desert plants in this mural include: The Saguaro Cactus, Joshua Tree, Prickly Pear (Nopal Cactus), Sage Bush and Agave.

Mural Size: 54ft x 13ft at the tallest point.

One of the challenges of this project was the summer heat. At the time of painting this mural there was a heat wave causing temperatures to range anywhere from 115 to 120 degrees. This made painting in direct sunlight not possible. Painting at night was the only way to ease the pain and even then it was still over 100 degrees and humid. During the day the wall was too hot to touch and at night was still hot enough to dry the paint instantly radiating all the absorbed heat back out.

Several unexpected incidents occurred each day of painting but every project comes with its challenges, its all part of the process in working through it and getting the job done.
